Received 1000 acres of land for Revolutionary War services. he served on Colonel Clark’s Riflemen Company of original Wilkes Co., GA. He was at the Battle of Kettle Creek. All men had been refugees from NC. The Wilkes Co., GA soldiers served under NC & SC and probably Joel Phillips service record is included in NC Revolutionary War records.
