NTSB Report-9-18-1976
While flying through heavy thunderstorms, Jean's 421 Cessna disintegrated, killing him, his pilot, and a passenger. Although the NTSB lists his professional pilot as at the controls, reports from the wreck indicate that Jean was in the pilot's seat.
