Notes for Harry Miller OWEN
Notes from Sue Owen:

Harry Miller Owen: Grew up in Norman, OK. He loved to hunt, usually with his dog Sam by his side. He was very bright, academic success apparently came easily to him, was well-read, enjoyed languages, history and comedy. Harry graduated from OU with a degree in German, utilizing an ROTC scholarship in exchange for college tuition, then went on active duty and was stationed in occupied Germany in 1952, starting as a Tank Commander, at the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. He spoke fluent German, also Spanish, as well as fairly good ltalian. He loved living and traveling in Europe. While in Germany, he met and married Esther Bell, who was from Califomia and served in the Special Services for the U.S. Army. Esther worked in a service club for the soldiers, where she met Harry in 1952. They married in 1954, and had their eldest son, Jim, later that year. They retumed to Califomia in 1955 when Harry was discharged from the Anny, and went on to have a daughter and son.
