Notes for Emma Lamond MORGAN
My great great grandmother Emma (Lamond) Steele Morgan, was the daughter of Ella Lemond/Lamond. Her mother's maiden name and her father's name remain unknown in 2011. There are various spellings for Emma's maiden name in the public records.

Emma Lamond was wed in matrimony August 31, 1869 in Jackson County, Illinois to John Steele. From this union they were blessed with six children: William F.; Ida M; Luella; George; Ray W.; and Homer Steele.

Although it's noted in her first husband's John Steele's Civil War Pension file that John was a widow in his many attempts to increase his pension entitlement over the years, there is further evidence Emma was still living.

Emma later married Thomas Morgan about 1899 as evidenced by the 1900 Indian Territory census where she is enumerated with her son Ray Steele, and later in the 1910 Alderson, Oklahoma census records with second husband Thomas Morgan.

In her later years her grandchildren referred to her as "Ma Morgan".
